[PICTORIAL]: NDLEA Seizes Drugs Hidden in Plantain Chip Packages at Lagos Airport

Operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted a shipment of illegal drugs concealed inside packages labeled as plantain chips at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The seizure was announced on Sunday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Femi Babafemi, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

In his post, Babafemi stated, “Narco-trend update: This consignment was packaged as plantain chips, but inside was a skunk, as discovered by vigilant #ndlea_nigeria officers in one of their latest seizures at Lagos airport.” The term “skunk” refers to a potent strain of cannabis.

The NDLEA spokesperson also issued a caution to Nigerians, urging them to be vigilant when accepting packages for travel. “Always be careful of what you’re given to travel with!” he warned.

This latest interception underscores the ongoing efforts by Nigerian law enforcement to combat drug trafficking through creative concealment methods.

The NDLEA continues to monitor and dismantle such illicit operations to safeguard public health and security.
