Paris Saint-Germain are likely to fine Lionel Messi, for missing training on Monday to travel to Saudi Arabia, ESPN reports.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier had promised his players they would have two days off, Monday and Tuesday if they defeat Lorient on Sunday.

However, Galtier made it clear that a loss would see the players being called in for training on Monday.

Messi had requested to travel to Saudi Arabia to honour his sponsorship deal as a Saudi ambassador.

Galtier and sporting director Luis Campos gave him the approval to go on the condition of a PSG win or draw.

However, following the 3-1 defeat to Lorient, Messi flew to Saudi Arabia without asking again for permission, meaning he could not attend training on Monday.

Okay.ng understands that the situation reportedly created tension in the PSG dressing room with some players unhappy over the incident.
