Real Madrid Crowned La Liga Champions After Girona Stuns Barcelona

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Real Madrid have been crowned La Liga champions for a record-extending 36th time after a 3-0 win over Cadiz and Girona’s dramatic 4-2 victory over Barcelona.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side did their part by beating Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, and Joselu scoring the goals. The win put Madrid on the brink of the title, and Girona’s surprise win over Barcelona confirmed their championship.

Girona’s victory was a historic one, as they qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history. The Catalan side came from behind twice to defeat Barcelona, with Artem Dovbyk, Portu, and Miguel Gutierrez scoring their goals.

Madrid’s win was a dominant one, with Diaz opening the scoring in the 51st minute and Bellingham adding the second soon after. Joselu sealed the win with a tap-in in stoppage time.

The title win is a testament to Madrid’s consistency and depth this season, with Ancelotti rotating his squad ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

Luka Modric became the oldest player to appear for Madrid in La Liga, breaking Ferenc Puskas’ record from 1965. Thibaut Courtois also made his return from a nine-month injury layoff, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
