Nigerian actress Regina Daniels has accused her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, of using her brother’s imprisonment as leverage to pressure her into returning to what she described as an “abusive relationship.”
In an emotional series of posts shared on Instagram early Friday, the 25-year-old actress broke down in tears while expressing despair over the continued detention of her brother, Sammy Ojeagwu.
She alleged that his arrest was politically and personally motivated, describing the ordeal as a “living nightmare.”
“Guys, I am trying. I tried. I feel like I am going crazy. I am losing my mind. I am crying in front of everybody. It is not even making sense. What am I begging for, I do not know,” she said in a trembling voice.
The visibly distraught actress revealed that her brother’s situation has pushed her to the edge emotionally, adding that her daily struggle with fear and uncertainty has left her mentally exhausted.
“It is not easy. Every time I wake up, I see one thing from my brothers online. Today I hear good news, tomorrow I hear another thing. What is the problem? But I am trying. I will go back,” she continued.
In another post, Daniels reflected on why she had stayed silent for so long regarding the alleged abuse, insisting that her decision not to speak publicly was to maintain her dignity rather than hide her suffering.
“It is okay to laugh. It is really okay to laugh. What were you guys expecting me to show off? That I was being beaten, that I was sad?” she asked rhetorically.
The actress then made a heartbreaking admission, stating she would return to her husband if it meant her brother’s release from detention.
“I give up! What was my brother’s offense? Fighting for his baby sister because his in-law would always beat her up? I actually accorded the Nigerian police some respect, but shame on you all! It’s obvious the highest bidder always wins,” she wrote.
She added: “Now I’m crippled! I will return if that’s the only way—do whatever he says, get injected to be like a zombie, get locked up and raped in the house. Only then will my brother return. Because by law, there is no tangible case against Sammywest! Ned Nwoko is bigger than the whole of Nigeria; that’s what this means. We lost or rather, I lost!”
The ongoing conflict between the actress and her husband began in October, when a viral video showed Daniels in tears accusing Nwoko of physical abuse. In response, the senator denied the claims, alleging instead that his wife was battling substance abuse — a claim she has repeatedly denied.
Tensions escalated further on November 3, when Daniels alleged that Nwoko had ordered the arrest of her brothers in a bid to silence her.
As the crisis continues to unfold, public sympathy has largely swayed toward the actress, with many Nigerians on social media demanding the release of her brother and an independent investigation into her allegations.
