Report: Pep Guardiola Agrees New Contract Extension with Manchester City

By Yusuf Abubakar

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract extension with an option for an additional year, securing his future with the club until at least 2025 and potentially 2026.

This agreement comes amidst months of speculation about his long-term plans as his existing contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.

The news, initially reported by The Athletic’s Sam Lee and supported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, has been confirmed as a significant boost for Manchester City. Guardiola, 53, will now extend his tenure, taking his managerial spell with City to over a decade if the new contract is fulfilled.

According to Romano, “Pep Guardiola has agreed to stay at Manchester City for one more season! New contract to be valid until June 2025, as @SamLee reports — with an option to extend until June 2026. City was always confident to keep Pep — never spoke to other coaches.”

The decision comes on the heels of significant changes at City, including the recent departure of Txiki Begiristain, the club’s former director of football, who was replaced by Hugo Viana from Sporting CP in October.
