Assistant coach of the Super Eagles Salisu Yusuf and the head of the Technical Directorate of the Nigeria Football Federation, Shuaibu Amodu will be in charge of the Super Eagles after the sacking of coach Stephen Keshi.

Keshi was sacked on Saturday, July 3 after he was found guilty by the disciplinary committee of breaching his contract with the NFF following the Ivory Coast job application saga.

Yusuf and Aimodu according to the NFF 1st Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, speaking on behalf of the entire Executive Committee of NFF, will be temporarily in charge of the Super Eagles before a new coach will be named.

“In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs will be jointly managed by Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new Head Coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country,” said Akinwunmi.

Amodu has been coach of the Super Eagles before, having first managed the Nigerian national team from April 2001 to February 2002, winning Bronze in the 2002 African Cup Nations Cup which was hosted by Mali.

He was re-appointed manager in April 2008 and was sacked in February 2010.
