Skales Claims Wizkid Never Liked Him, Recounts Social Media Fallout

By Damilola A.

Nigerian singer Skales has alleged that his former record label mate, Wizkid, harbored dislike for him, claiming he has always felt “repelling energy” from the Starboy.

Speaking during a recent episode of the ‘Listen’ podcast, the ‘Shake Body’ crooner opened up about his strained relationship with Wizkid and reflected on their public fallout on social media years ago.

“I have always felt that Wizkid didn’t like me,” Skales said. “I don’t know why, but there were occasions where he showed his dislike for me.”

The singer recalled a past Twitter exchange that escalated into a heated altercation between the two artists.

“I think I was doing a ‘question-and-answer’ session on Twitter, and somebody said, ‘What’s up with your guy Wiz?’ And jokingly, I said, ‘My brother Wiz does not have my time anymore.’ From there, Wizkid started insulting me, my father, and my mother. That’s to show you that he probably had me in mind,” Skales recounted.

He further claimed that Wizkid mocked him for wearing “fake jewellery” and stated that the insults were directed at him even though his ex-girlfriend responded on his behalf during the spat.

Skales explained his decision to stay quiet during the feud, saying, “I pick my battles. When I know that people will believe anything you say, I don’t need to fight you. Because whatever I say, they are going to say I am jealous. They are going to say I am envious of Wizkid’s success.”

Despite his attempts to reconcile with Wizkid, Skales said the Grammy-winning artist remained indifferent. “I sat down recently and said, ‘This guy really don’t like me.’ I have tried to make peace with him, but he was adamant. He didn’t like me, I can tell you for a fact.”
