Super Eagles Coach Optimistic about Nwabali’s Fitness for Quarter-Final Clash

By Yusuf Abubakar

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed optimism regarding the fitness of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali for the upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nwabali is currently a doubtful starter for the crucial encounter after sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s Round of 16 victory against Cameroon.

He was absent from the team’s training session at the Police College, Cocody, on Monday night.

Addressing reporters, Peseiro acknowledged Nwabali’s importance to the squad and provided insights into the goalkeeper’s current status.

“He (Nwabali) is here with us, and we are hoping he will be available for the game against Angola,” Peseiro stated.

“He will undergo another test on Wednesday. After that, we will know whether he can play or not.”

The Super Eagles are set to face Pedro Goncalves’ Angola at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday.
