Teni Addresses Controversy Over IBD Dende Greeting

By Damilola A.

Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has addressed the recent controversy surrounding her gesture of prostrating to greet Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, aka IBD Dende, on a plane.

The singer came under fire after sharing a video of herself prostrating to greet the businessman and socialite, prompting criticism from some quarters due to unproven allegations against him for smuggling.

In response to the backlash, Teni took to social media to provide context and clarity regarding her actions.

She explained that her gesture was a display of gratitude towards IBD Dende for his kindness towards her back in 2014, long before she gained fame in the music industry.

Teni emphasized that she was unaware of any criminal activities associated with IBD Dende and maintained that she holds him in high regard based on their past encounter.

The singer made it clear that she does not endorse criminal behavior and trusts in the legal system to address any wrongdoing.

“I Met IBD [Dende] in 2014 and he was so good to me, even before I blew up. So when[ever] I see him, it’s always love,” she stated.

“I honestly had no knowledge of any criminal activities associated with him. I do not support criminals, so let the law take its course.”
