ABUJA, Nigeria — Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the Federal Capital Territory following the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he participated in a series of political, governmental, and diplomatic engagements.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday evening and was received by senior government officials, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu.
Okay News reports that during the holiday period, Tinubu hosted Vice President Kashim Shettima and several delegations that paid the traditional Eid homage. Among those received were members of the Senate leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum headed by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President also attended the International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic Waterfront in Lagos on Monday as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy. During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila, and NNS Gurara — and commended the Navy for its contributions to maritime security and national development.
Also during his stay in Lagos, Tinubu received the newly sworn-in President of Benin Republic, Romuald Wadagni. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and economic partnerships between the two neighboring countries.
Before the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the President participated in the All Progressives Congress primaries held in Lagos. According to the Presidency, Tinubu voted during the exercise and secured overwhelming support from party members nationwide, emerging as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
