A senior figure of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to urgently identify and prosecute saboteurs allegedly undermining national security operations across the country.

In a detailed statement released to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker who represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly expressed deep worry over repeated attacks, killings, and abductions of civilians in several parts of northern Nigeria. These include incidents in states such as Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger, which have raised international concern over Nigeria’s internal security challenges.

According to Oyintiloye, the escalating violence has created an atmosphere where communities are being abandoned and families are left traumatised. He stressed that the pattern of attacks targeting school children and rural dwellers is pushing many Nigerians into fear and uncertainty about their safety.

Okay News reports that in his remarks, Oyintiloye urged all Service Chiefs to urgently review their operational strategies to better confront criminals carrying out coordinated terrorist attacks across different regions of the country. He cautioned that the longer the situation remains unaddressed, the more Nigeria’s stability is threatened.

The statement read in part, “Many communities have been made desolate due to the mass displacement of people and killings. Parents, families, and relatives are currently in a state of devastation due to violence, mass abductions, especially of schoolgirls, and killings by the terrorists. If it means the Service Chiefs changing their operational tactics to get things right, they should do so without hesitation because Nigeria is bleeding and time is running out.”

He emphasised that beyond adjusting security strategies, there must be a coordinated effort to uncover individuals within the system who may be aiding terrorist elements either through leaked intelligence or deliberate negligence.

Oyintiloye added, “The President and the National Security Adviser should discreetly identify those sabotaging the efforts of the military in protecting Nigerians for prosecution. Those saboteurs within the system must be identified and flushed out before they do more damage.”

He noted that the frequency of successful attacks suggests the troubling possibility of both internal and external collaboration and insisted that such reports must not be ignored. He said, “There are distressing reports suggesting internal sabotage and external collaboration. That must be decisively dealt with. The way and manner in which the efforts of the military are being thwarted calls for serious concern and should be investigated.”

While commending President Tinubu for ongoing security interventions, the All Progressives Congress chieftain maintained that Nigeria has the ability to defeat terrorism if all institutions reinforce their roles and citizens provide the required support.

He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and united despite current difficulties, expressing confidence that the country will eventually overcome its security challenges.

The renewed call for accountability comes after the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, demanded a full investigation into the withdrawal of security personnel from the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, shortly before terrorists invaded the area and abducted students.

The Kebbi State Governor reportedly raised his concerns during a meeting with the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who visited the state on the directive of President Tinubu to coordinate rescue and recovery operations. Governor Idris stated that intelligence had earlier indicated that the school might be targeted, prompting initial deployment of security operatives.
