Tragedy Strikes as Ghanaian Footballer Raphael Dwamena Dies During Albanian Super League Match

In a shocking turn of events, former Ghanaian international footballer Raphael Dwamena, 28, collapsed and tragically passed away during a match in the Albanian Super League.

The unfortunate incident occurred while Dwamena was in action for FK Egnatia against Partizani in the 24th minute of the game.

The striker collapsed in the 23rd minute, bringing the match to a halt as players, officials, and medical staff rushed to his aid.

An ambulance entered the pitch swiftly, but despite the efforts to save him, Dwamena was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The Albania Football Association (FSHF) expressed deep shock and condolences over the tragedy in a statement: “The FSHF expresses its deep shock over the tragedy that happened today in Egnatia-Partizani, where football player Raphael Dwamena lost his life. The FSHF expresses its deepest condolences to the Dwamena family and the Egnatia club for this great loss.”

Condolences poured in from various quarters, with the Ghanaian Football Association leading the way. They remembered Dwamena for his dedicated service to Ghana, having represented the country nine times and scoring twice.

The association expressed profound sorrow and stated, “Our thoughts are with the family of Raphael Dwamena at this difficult time. Raphael represented Ghana wholeheartedly and paid his dues to the country until his unfortunate passing. We will forever miss him for his dedication to the National Coarse. Rest In Peace Raphael!️.”

Dwamena, who had previously received advice to quit football due to heart issues, had an extensive career, featuring for nine different European clubs before this tragic incident.
