Trump Discusses Progress in Russia-Ukraine War Talks, Says Situation ‘Somewhat Under Control’

During an interview aboard Air Force One with Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed that efforts to prevent further escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict are “somewhat under control.”

Trump highlighted the importance of “rational discussions” and maintaining positive relationships with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as essential steps toward achieving a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war.

The former president recently engaged in separate talks with both leaders, aiming to negotiate a ceasefire in the conflict that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. While his attempts to secure a 30-day ceasefire were unsuccessful, the discussions resulted in some progress.

Putin agreed to pause Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days, and Zelenskiy also committed to the temporary halt.

Despite the ongoing devastation and loss of life caused by the war, diplomatic efforts continue. Trump’s statements reflect continued U.S. involvement in pursuing a resolution to the conflict.
