Nigeria’s Super Eagles are fully united and focused ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final showdown against Algeria on Saturday.

Head coach Eric Sékou Chelle has emphasized that the team has moved past recent distractions and is determined to secure victory at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Okay News reports that the match, scheduled for a 5 pm kick-off, renews a fierce rivalry between the two African giants. Chelle dismissed talk of revenge for Nigeria’s dramatic 2019 semi-final loss to the Fennecs, stating, “My priority is to compete fiercely and secure qualification.” He acknowledged the quality of the Algerian side but expressed confidence in his squad’s mindset and preparation.

On the opposing side, Algeria coach Vladimir Petković is banking on his team’s mental strength and tactical discipline. “We need to be just as good defensively as offensively. All the details will matter against Nigeria,” Petković noted. This encounter marks the 25th meeting between the nations, with Algeria holding a slight historical edge of 10 wins to Nigeria’s nine. The winner will advance to face Morocco in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
