By Promise Amadi

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has explained why his side defeated Arsenal in their Premier League opener on Sunday evening.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva in either half of the match ensured that City defeated Unai Emery’s men 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Guardiola said his players had to run for 90 minutes to get the result against the Gunners.

According to him, beating the Unai Emery’s men was very important for City, adding that his side needed to improve because they were still not good enough.

“We can improve. To win this game, it was very important for us,” Emery was quoted saying by Londonfootballnews at a post-match conference.

“I still think we can improve. We are still not good enough to know what we have to do.

“I am very pleased. The desire to run and run. The first game away against Arsenal, to win the way we won, is more than pleasing.”
