ABUJA, Nigeria – The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations linking two senior police officers to the disappearance and suspected murder of government critic Abubakar Idris, widely known as Dadiyata.
Okay News reports that the directive follows a petition filed by human rights lawyer Abba Hikima. The petition highlights recent claims by a former government aide, who alleged that the officers openly admitted to killing Dadiyata and threatened him with a similar fate during an interrogation.
The case has been officially handed over to the Police Monitoring Unit for a comprehensive review. Acknowledging the petition, the force assured the public of a transparent probe to determine the truth behind the explosive allegations, stressing that any officer found culpable will face justice regardless of their rank.
Dadiyata, a prominent social media activist and lecturer, was abducted from his residence in Kaduna in August 2019. His whereabouts have remained unknown, making his disappearance one of the most high-profile unresolved cases in recent Nigerian history.
