PARIS, France — UEFA’s Technical Observer Group has officially named Paris Saint-Germain’s Georgian winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.
The 25-year-old attacker was the standout performer in Europe this year, steering the French giants to their second consecutive continental crown. Kvaratskhelia recorded an incredible tally of 10 goals and six assists across 16 appearances throughout the tournament.
Okay News reports that Kvaratskhelia’s pivotal role culminated in Saturday’s final against Arsenal, where he won the crucial second-half penalty that allowed teammate Ousmane Dembélé to equalize from the spot. Paris Saint-Germain eventually retained their title via a tense 4-3 penalty shootout victory following a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time.
The official announcement updates the elite honor roll of Europe’s premier club competition, following his teammate Ousmane Dembélé who won the accolade in 2024/25, Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior in 2023/24, and Manchester City’s Rodri in 2022/23. Additionally, UEFA named Real Madrid’s Turkish midfielder Arda Güler as the Breakthrough Player of the Season for his stellar performances during the knockout stages.
